    We have all been affected by covid but until my last MS4 student rotation, the true realization of multiple concerns taxing students. Outside rotations are required to enable the student to introduce themselves and display their skills to program directors. This insight provides the prospective resident about the residency and program director.

    Fall 2020 Presidents Report

    As we head into Fall, the traditions normal seen and experienced have been upended by the Covid pandemic. Typically kids and parents are excited to return to school, fall sports are starting, leaves are changing colors and, depending on where you live, people head to cider mills.     It all began in about 1997. Leo Skorin, DO and two of his colleagues discussed the concept of a more comprehensive ophthalmic manual that expanded on the ones in print at that time. They felt that this type of book, one that is more in-depth but simultaneously easy to use and reference, would fill a much-needed niche. So these three editors-to-be developed and refined their concept. They presented their idea to Wolters Kluwer/LWW (formally Lippincott).     The AOCOO-HNS Foundation Board of Directors approved a recommendation brought by the Foundation Advisory Committee (FAC). Because of funding cuts within hospitals, Drs. Paul Imber and Jack Alway realized there was a need to support PGY 2 & 3 ophthalmology residents and PGY 3 & 4 otolaryngology residents pay for their continuing education. Drs. Imber and Alway made a presentation to the FAC and asked the FAC to recommend to the Foundation Board of Directors to create a Covid-19 Resident Education Grant.
